This is THE BEST recipe for biscuits! Easy and delicious. Sure to be a favourite.
Prep time: 10 minutesIngredients:
1 cup of butter (225g)
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/4 cups plain white flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease an oven tray.
2. Cream the butter , white and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs into the mix one at a time, and then stir in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt, then stir into creamed mixture.
3. Fold in the chocolate chips. Place rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared baking tray.
4. Bake until light brown, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Let sit for 5 minutes and then transfer to rack to cool.
These cookies may spread when cooking! Keep the cookies spaced out (maybe an inch between) and DON'T TRY AND BAKE THEM ALL AT ONCE. Depending on your tray/oven size you'll be doing approximately 4 batches.
*This recipe can be adapted to your tastes. Try adding chopped macadamia and white chocolate chips for a more gourmet biscuit!

Comments / Reviews of Chocolate Chip Biscuits
I followed this recipe word for word and what a complete waste of time and ingredients. The biscuits went flat in the oven, like pan cakes.
Very good biscuits. :-) I didn't add any salt and used half cup of raw sugar & a half cup of caster sugar. Tasted just as loverly & this will be the 2nd time I've made chic-chip biscuits, and my family always knows when I been baking!! Thanks for the recipe :-)
These biscuits are really nice but without that chocolate chips they taste like baking soda and salt! :(
The biscuits look lovely...no trouble with them being too flat... But they are too salty and buttery. I think less butter is the way to go...I put in 210 grams and not even a full tsp of salt. I think about 180 grams would do and no salt if you're using salted butter. They're certainly edible with a nice cuppa to wash them down though!
I added 3/4 cup wholegrain oats to recipe and just spooned them on the tray (do not even try to roll them) Now I can say they are "healthy" PERFECT FOR LUNCHBOXES
Best choc chip recipe EVER! And so quick and simple. I use a 200g packet of choc chips and find this is heaps. Makes so many buscuits which means they last 10minutes instead of the usual 5.
These cookies were amazing my family all loved it. I made about 50 cookies. It was very delicious. Yummy ^.^
These are AMAZING! The first time I made them was two years ago and they went so fast in the house my family and friends that came around. Now to this day this is one recipe I stick to and its perfect! Overall great!
I put 175g butter and reduced the sugar. They hardly spread. Very tasty. My son very happy since they were not too crunchy.
the cookies are so good i gonna make more after1
Wonder biscuits I got 86 good sized ones added baking powder and mire flour to take away tacky mix all wonder biscuits very happy
just yummy my family loves them and thanks to all the suggestions from others i made a few changes and they came out perfect great recipe
They were like 1000 out of 1000! We cooked 50 of them!
They were amazing! We loved it! We cooked about 50 chocolate chip cookies! It was great! We had a great time! See you later!
These chocolate chip cookies are amazing, they are so easy to make an they turned out amazing on my first try. They are sweet but not to sweet and they made 51 cookies for me. Great recipe, I added smarties to half of my mixture and to the other half I added chocolate chips, they are sooo nice 10/10, my whole family loves them
Love these biscuits and so do the kids, I find I use a little bit more flour and you have to use big choc chips, i only use signature range milk chocolate drops and the come out perfect, if you use little choc chips then they go like pancakes!
Excellent in every way. the kids and I smashed this together in just 7 minutes before mum got home, and the first batch was out just 12 minutes after going in the oven. makes 64 largish biscuits. (I love large portions...)
love this recipe my family (hubby & kids) go crazy for them :)
needed to put less butter & sugar more flour & 2 add baking powder they were flat & yuck sorry but what a waste of my time & money
PERFECT!!!! Like the others made slight modifications with the butter and sugar using slightly less and the dough came out perfect as did the cooked product. Makes a huge amount too which is great.
I made these cookies i put the mixture in the fridge for hour then baked them they were chunky and yummy.
Come out with perfect result, kids loved.
Perfect if you refrigerate the cookie dough in glad wrap for about an hour before baking, this will help them to stay nice and chunky!
Yummy! Used 220 grams of butter. Used self-raising flour instead of plain flour and baking soda. Delicious! Like some others have said they are flat but oh, so, scummy!
da best but yeah
for me they came out flat like pancakes and runny but they tasted like heaven regardless of the flattness of the cookies
They were really bad. Fell flat like a pancake but still tasted nice.
They were a little sticky when I went to put them on they tray. Spacing is important. Tasted amazing
These were loved by the whole family. Comments were that they were better than Subway cookies. However I still think my Godmothers secret recipe tops all (don't all of your childhood memories seem better?!). Changes I made; -about 200g of butter instead of 225g -substituted an artifical sweetener powder instead of the white sugar, but still used brown sugar -loosely rolled them into balls and pressed with a fork a little. In my current oven I needed to leave them in for 11mins and only cooked about 5 at a time n well spaced because the heat isn't very evenly dispersed. The only problem is that they began to break away a little too easy the next day (possibly relating to Gold Coast climate?).
I made them following this recipie and went to check them 5 mins after i had put them in the oven and the mixture was all runny.. like a cookie pancake.. not good
try using witikers raspberry wight chocolate yum!
Made two batches first batch came out flat like pancakes. Second batch modified recipe. Less butter 200g, less sugar half cup each of brown and white. Two and 2/3 cup flour. Added half teaspoon baking powder and tablespoon golden syrup. Came out awesome.
The recipe I have been looking for! Will make again. Maybe try less sugar & butter. Would like to know if they keep well, but don't think they'll be around long anyway :)
THESE ARE SO DELICIOUS! i love them! i have made alot of chocolate chip cookie recipes from the internet and this is by far the best! the raw mixture is yummy too
yummy yummy just what I wanted and It makes Heaps
This has to be the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever made! I used marge instead of butter and 3/4 cup of white sugar and 1 egg and they didn't spread or anything! This is the first time I have made cookies that have come out perfect! Love it
WOW!!!...so easy to make...so delicious to eat...my twins cannot seem to get enough of it!! :-) did reckon that there too much sugar to it so i just put half brown and white sugar to make up 3/4 cup of sugar. and did reduce the butter content to about 175gms of butter and IT still tasted like COOKIE TIME...:-) I halved the dough after mixing and made one batch of chocolate cookies using whittakers chocolate and a combination of white chocolate, almond and macadamia nuts......YUMMMMM!!!!! Thankyou so much for this reciepe..its definately a keeper!!
I made them as the recipe, (less salt and vanilla though...a little of each) but wondered why I couldnt roll them (mixture wet) they came out fine though, but after reading the reviews I re made them with 125 g marg, (butter is for toast!) 1 egg and 1/3 cup white and 1/3 brown sugar together, (about 3/4 cup all up,) 1 tsp vanilla, and used a pinch of sea salt and 100grams (1/2 cup?) choc chips, This time i could roll them and so placed them on the tray, pressed with a fork and they came out fabulous. They didnt spread (I left 4 unpressed, they basically stayed where they were as less butter and eggs) but the fork line dissappeared and so they just look like round biscuits, made by delia smith! less sugar, marg, eggs and choc chips didnt compromise at all and makes them cheaper to make...yay
i found that this recipe made amazing massive cookies, we made in a group and instead of chocolate chips we used cadbury chocolate and toblerone and m&ms
Simple recipe to follow - this is a favourite in our household - very dangerous to have in the household as you want to eat them all!!!
Still perfecting them. The shape varies every time I make them.
a bit sticky tbh
We love this recipe we use it all the time!!!!!!!!! Great for the school lunch box
I'm so sick of these biscuits. Nobody wants me to make anything else! I did read the comments first and reduced the butter, sugar & salt & they look just like the picture. I even freeze some, cause it makes so much & great for unexpected visitors - they dont even know - by the time the cuppas made, defrosted on the plate!
These are amazing and I continue to use this as my go-to recipe for delicious biscuits. I have added a note to this recipe's instructions for the inexperienced bakers who seem to have cookies melting all over tray.
Yummy - I read some of the comments before mixing the ingredients as I took out the salt completely and only put 100g of white and 100g of brown sugar in - also only put about 100g of choc chips in as that was all that was in cupboard. Left the rest as per the recipe and rolled small balls to place on baking tray (no flattening it) - result was EXACTLY like the picture. Tasted great!
Sorry i did not like this recipe, followed completely right but run all through the tray, Mums face not to good when seeing the state of the oven. flavour not too bad
Great tasting, good turn out. Only thing was that they do "melt" or fall flat in the oven so I suggest a rimmed baking tray (: YUM YUM, chewy chewy.
Tasted good, but pretty much melted in the oven.
The cookies turned out amazingly and they are so easy to make. Anyone can make them. They were soft but not soggy and firm around the edges. So yummy
I also agreed that these are very buttery but devine. I used 50% butter and 50% margerine. This recipes made heaps and is really easy. I put tsp amounts on tray. Yum Yum Pigs bum.
The biscuits were beautifully moist. I always like cookies or biscuits that are soft but not soggy as they are nicer to bite into. However I do think the butter amount is quite high, after the cookies were baked it was literally oozing out the bottom but it made it taste even better but for more health conscious people I suggest it be decreased. Otherwise they had fantastic flavour and were a great treat.
it's not everyday that you search for a recipe on the net and find one that is exactly what it says it is, the writer said they are the best, delicious and adaptable and right they were. Secondly they yielded exactly what the recipe said they would no problems. I'm a chef so following recipes is not too much of a hard ask for me and I especially like it when I can adapt a recipe a little and still end up with yummo. So thanks be using it again and again in many ways.
Made this twice now, both times came out awesome, this is a keeper.
love, love, love these cookies and so do my kids, turn out perfect everytime, no need to go to cookie time anymore even though its just up the road, delicious right out of the oven!
Great easy recipe. My advice, roll them out small, unless you are after giant cookies. Instead of chocolate chips I cut up a block of chocolate with crunchie pieces in it.
made giant cookies were delish!!
It was so yummmmmmy! me and my 9 year old sister made them they were scrumptious!
Excellent recipe! Simple, quick to put together with perfect results. Very important to cream the butter and sugar thoroughly and also use regular not fan bake.
Turned out just like the picture and I added half a cup of each sugar. Very nice tasting bit more cake like than I'm used to but still very nice :):)
Easy, Quick and Yummy! Perfect activity to do with the children on a rainy day!
awesome!..my two year old had alot of fun making these with mum!
After making them twice, I decided to try them with wholemeal flour. 2 1/2 cups wholemeal. And still they were amazing.
Amazing cookies! Delicious recipe!! My 4 yr old and I made this morning, so easy yummmm!! Thanks for sharing
Only use 1/4 cup of brown and white sugar as this will prevent the biscuits becoming flat and brittle due to the sugar. Use smaller eggs if possible. Vanilla essence is key in this recipe.
WOW. I have made a batch of these this afternoon and put it in the fridge for a few hours. put 6 balls in 1st and they kinda burnt so put another batch in and pulled them out now and they are just GREAT and YUMMY!!! Thanks im going to use this recipe form now on xoxox
I added more flour and put in fridge in between baking and they turned out better =)
family loved them. they were great the habby ate all off them and great 4 the kids 2 make ova the school hoildays
They tasted great my kids ate most of them i couldnt keep them away from them will definatly make them again :)
They taste yummy but I made them WAY to big & made a biscuit cake ;-)
Easy as! but next time I will make smaller ones!
These were the easiest cookies I have ever made! I read the reviews first and added a little extra flour and chilled the mix first. I also used marge instead of butter and it worked fine. They came out perfect, just like the picture and my kids went nuts over them! Made a huge batch for xmas prezzies, I had to force myself not to eat them as soon as they were out of the oven! Going to make another batch today!
Beautiful cookies! I am new to baking, and I have now mastered these cookies, very simple when you follow the instructions exactly. To prevent them becoming flat, make sure you CREAM the butter and sugar together properly. Also, make sure you place ROUNDED SPOONSFULS of the mixture on the trays [as it says in the instructions]. I chopped up normal chocolate [think cadbury or whittakers], yum!
fell VERY flat and were not very good, im not the best coock but i followed the recipe and they turned out horrible, it might be something i didnt wrong. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
fell flat on me. but tasted great. is there a method to the mixing? they smelled and tasted delicious they were just flat.
These are fantastic! Made a batch with my 2yr old this morning and she loved it. So quick and easy and makes a mountain load of cookies. Placed in jars with a pretty ribbon and this will make 2 or 3 jars full for cheap Xmas gifts =) Love it.
Wonderful! After reading previous comments I did omit the butter in favour of marg, this reduced the possible salty taste and spaced them eight to a tray to avoid them merging together :) Best cookies I've made, easy and quick.
Being allergic to wheat and dairy I changed the recipe a bit. I did a half batch replacing standard flour with rice flour and used 3/4 cup of vegan spread(Olivani) using half of everything else and they were wonderful! First sweet treats Ive had since finding out my allergies. Thanks for the recipe base! Hopefully the standard ones I made for my partner are just as good!
Perfection!! I have been looking for the perfect ginger and white choc chip recipe. This recipe provided a great base. I left out the vanilla and salt and added 4 teaspoons of ground ginger and used white choc melts. Roll into balls but dont flatten. After cooking, slide the cookies on the paper straight onto the cold kitchen surface and leave til cool. Try to resist the temptation to start eating while they are hot because you wont be able to stop!
Omg these cookies are amazing - I used chocolate chunks and tastes better than choco chips.. They are even better than the cookie times and subway cookies..
GREAT!! i loved them there so nice i dosed them with green food colouring so my brothers dont eat them!! :P
love this recipe...... even my 5 year old grandson can make them.. with help of course.
i like the recipe it really easy to make so tasty its great for the whole family
Absolutely awesome. Everyone loves them, have had comments that they taste like cookie time or subway cookies. Everyone wants the receipe. Have made receipe lots of times and never had a failer. Love the Vanilla taste too!!
Giant ball of sugar and melted chocolate chip, after wards we broke them up and put them in the oven again and walla turned into a delicious choc chip crumble cake.
i made these for my sister wedding and she love,s them
Made these today - very nice! So glad to have finally found a decent chocolate chip biscuit recipe that has no condensed milk in it. For those who found them salty - maybe try using either unsalted butter and add the required salt, or use regular salted butter and omit the salt? Just a theroy. I used the former, and they are not salty at all.
Perfect little cookies. My mum didn't like them cos they were too soft but thats how i like mine. the shape was a bit out of whack otherwise great recipe. I never added any salt either
They do spread, but a good tip for biscuit baking is to always chill the mixture, either before or after putting them on the trays - if mixture is particularly soft even a short time in the freezer makes a big difference to the biscuit keeping its shape ! Nice bikky
Very nice!! My family loved them,i had ta cook them in 2 different batches cause not enough room on the tray. Good for family events. I recommend putting in less or no salt depending on if you like salt or not, as it comes through quite strong.
Tried recipe today, They turned into flat panckes but i will try again with more flour and smaller portions :):)
Very nice, the hobos who failed it can't cook
Although some of the comments here are right and they do spread A LOT I just made mine small teaspoons full and spread them out! I can't believe how many the recipe made it's great and the dough is DELICIOUS!! Well worth a try!
My husband finally said that the cookies i had cooked, your recipe here, reached the required standard for wifelyhood cooking pre requisite. Food that tasted satisfactory for a man. He now allows me outdoors twice a day.
first time i baked them ok but now really good i use this recipe for afghan biscuits as well yummy yummy thats all i say
i took a bit of it and eated it was yummy fast great for the family
so YUMMIE tried it it is the Best.PERFECTION! :D Taste it.
wow yuuumy. i tried it was perfect
So easy to make and so delicious.....makes a good quantity...these biscuits get better as you leave them in an air tight container.....made on saturday still yum Tuesday..would definitely make again.
THESE BISCUITS ARE HAPPY THE TASTE SO GOOD BUT MU FAULTY OVEN TRAY IS TNOT FUN TO MAKE THE COOKIES IN THEY TURN INTO ONE GIANT COOKIE YUM YUM OMG RUV DA COOKIES IN MY TUMMY
it melted on me
My Auntys bday was yesterday and she loved i am only 10 years old and love to cook. 100%
i loved it, the cookies came out to perfection and my famly loved them :)
i loved it i was home and bored and it tasted great!!!!
Good thanx my kids love them I use 1 cup of sugar no brown sugar no salt still yummi...thanx for the recipe
These biscuits were divine! the first time i made them they spread out more then expected so when they came out of the oven they were stuck together but the second time I knew to put smaller biscuits in so they were perfect. These are delicious biscuits, they are so moist and sweet and they are definately worth making.
this recipe is so good, my cookies came out awesome and were a big hit in the household. :)
These cookies tasted delicious but they spread out heaps on the tray when I put them in the oven and stuck together :( My cat shaped ones were ruined.. oh well
They Were Okay But They Just Ended Up Going Flat ! ! !
I make this recipe all the time. My tips would be to use small eggs (size 6). If I only have large eggs in the fridge I only add one, that way the batter is nice and thick and you get that big fat chunky texture which I prefer over thin and crispy. I also add chocolate buttons instead of chocolate chips- warning use baking paper as the buttons tend to stick to the tray even when well greased. These cookies end up tasting so good, I recently made them for my playcenter and everyone raved about them and wanted the recipe
A great basic recipe which serves as a foundation for all sorts of flavor, chocolate combinations. Instead of using chocolate chips I used a 250g block (although for this recipe I recommend 400g of chocolate) of Whitakers peanut chocolate and added half a cup of peanut butter (instead of adding salt). Which gave the cookies a more smoother texture. To give the cookies a more lighter and cakey texture, replace normal flour for self rasing flour or add two teaspoons of baking powder to the mix. To make the cookies more chewy cook with two large jumbo sized eggs or use three small ones. I highly recommend this recipe!
they were good but i found they werent very sweet... nxt time i make them i mite put a whole cup of each sugar in them. Otherwise they were good :D Thanks 4 sharing :D
very yummy i figured out where i went wrong not to flatten the balls at all and they dont taste salty they scrumy
sorry mine were sticky as this what meant to be like and also i sifted the flour u ddint say weather to or not?
Great potential but turned out very salty. I will make again but with only 1/4 tsp salt.
Absolutely beautiful am going to be using this recipe more often...... Would be great for my daughters lunch box when she starts school and cant wait to make some more!
Great cookies, I had all the ingredients except brown sugar so just made do with regular sugar. Followed the recipe to a T, and gotta bit worried cause I initially did think the mixture was too moist...but I made my cookies small and they rose and formed perfect mini "Cookie Times" so I think the person who wrote that the butter and sugar needs to be fluffy is probably right. Thanks I had a craving for a chocolate chip cookie and this recipe was easy and were ingredients that were accessible or in the cupboard. Cheers
YUM!!
These are a firm favorite in our house - I use half choc buttons and half choc chips. I usually bake half and freeze half in rolls. The first ones spread out more while the mixture is soft (allow plenty of space and keep portions small). The frozen rolls I chop into 5mm slices while still firm. The less you let them defrost, the smaller and crunchier the cookie. Both versions are very popular.
They are the best. They are a family faviourite and everyone loves them. People say that they are the best choc chip cookies, and they love them so i think you should give it a go.
sweet biscuits :) had to switch it up a bit to make sure they'd turn out okay though. halved the recipe, removed the salt, kept the baking soda the same, increased the butter to 125 from 112 or something and upped the flour to around 1 and 3/4 cups. used a teaspoon to spoon the mix and made i think, 36 perfect baby chocolate chip cookies :)
I loved this recipe very easy and clear enough instructions thanks heap for helpin to make my cookies perfect =D
Sadly I ended up with the giant pancake cookie as well. Mixture was way too runny and greasy, so should have listened to my gut instinct and tried to recifiy with more flour. Fortunately I only cooked half the batch first off, so managed to save the second batch by adding a heap more flour. The second half turned out great, just a shame I had to waste so much in learning the lesson.
2..... because i followed the recipe from the book & came out like this massive pancake & realised afterwards it was the stuff up from the flour (which by the way needs to be clearer) anywho will try again, but not in any hurry too as i already wasted lots of ingredients Next time round I will get this right - will let u you once its a hit :-)
These are excellent! be good common sense to add a bit more flour if the mixture is a little light. These are like the Edmonds cookies that you buy in the box. I wont be buying those again when these are so easy and yummy. Thanks to whoever posted this recipe
Yum yum yum. Had 2 change a couple of measurements sugar/butter but other than that they're my new fav cookies. Thx ~:O)
great recipe enjoyed lots so quick to make and will continue to bake these
This is one of those recipes where your instinct tells you the mixture consistency is too runny. Listen to that and either add more flour or be prepared for one giant flat cookie.
what an awesum recipe so quik and easy love it
These came out very nice, and simple to make, I just drop a heaped teaspoon full without pressing them down and they look like the picture ones. I used cold butter too. My oven was set to 375F and took 13 min, they were soft when i took them out, but once they cool down they harden up. I got 36 cookies all together.
Absolutely love these cookies!! I used Whittakers dark, milk & white chocolate - delicious tastes just like a cookie time. I also had a problem with the mixture spreading on the tray but yummy all the same - Off to make some more
well my cookies turned into a cookie in the middle of the pan and mix over the bottom of the oven. Mum wont be pleased but will try again
YUMMMMMMMMMY A++++++++++ delicious!! Great recipe thx so much!
Best biscuits ever designed.
my chocolate chip biscuits are really good iv made alot of biscuits in the last 4 weeks and these are the best i have made, they are so yummy and easy to make.
way to salty would b much better with about 1/4 teaspoon salt at the very most even just a pinch
I used this recipe today and they came out really good! woohoo!
Wicked! As a constantly, learning baker, not only was this an easy recipe to follow, but it WORKED! Well done Boris!
YUM! I chose this recipe for a school project and they turned out perfect and everyone wanted some more!! i followed the recipe exactly and they turned out great. I read that a few negative comment about them spreading out too much so i made them smaller. Tastes just like subway!
Edited the recipe like someone did below to make them no so sweet and less butter! (only 1cup sugar and 125g butter) and yummmmmmy! Even better after a quick zap in microwave to melt chocolate. Gave some to my boyfriend who shared them with his workmates and they all thought they tasted like cookie times! I now do too. Yummy cookie and easy & quick to prepare!
these cookies are the best...i love chewy cookies
Awesome cookies, after reading all the comments I decided to add a little more flour (1/4 cup), 1 tsp baking powder and 1 less egg and they turned out perfect! I'm finding it hard to keep my husband away from them! Thanks so much for posting this recipe because every other cookie one I'd found tend to make flat cookies and these are great!
My first batch of biscuits turned out flat and extremely over-cooked. My mistake? I read 2 1/4 cups in the recipe as 2*1/4 (=1/2) cup instead of 2 and 1/4 cups of flour :p.
These were great.. I swapped the flour for gluten free flour as my daughter is gluten free.. and they were YUM!
These are amazing cookies perfectly soft and super yummy!! My boyfriend and his mates loved them!! I also added some cocoa in to make them double chocolate :D Thanks for the recipe!!! :D
Awesome! Sounds easy and I already have all those ingredients! Gonna try it when I get home from work!
To get them not to be so flat, use shortening instead of butter. Refrigerating the dough for a bit helps too.
Sorry, tried this recipe and the cookies turned out just totally flat, limp and inedible - you can't even pick them up without them falling apart. Clearly there is way too much butter and egg. They also tasted too salty. BEWARE: Do not follow this recipe to the letter, unless you want to be bitterly disappointed like I was:(
Great recipe but i did add a bit more flour as the were wet and spread out whilst cooking ! YUMMY !!
they were so good my kids ate them all ok i lied i dont have kids and i ate them all T_T
these cookies are the best i cut down the sugar ,1 less egg,and a little condensed milk, creamed to perfection, added a little more flour and put choc buttons in.these made them yummo.my hubby and kids were happy and it made quite a few so next time i will make big ones just like cookietime
Absolutely delicious! Have just made these and it is my new favourite recipe. I found just one cup of choc chips was plenty. A+++++! My daughter gives the thumbs up!
They were amazing, made them for a second time today and added two small bananas and added some more flour and they were YUM!!
yummy... needed to add a bit extra flour, but they were amazing and it made heaps of cookies
Worse chocolate chip biscuits i have made. I did cut down on the sugar but they took heaps longer to cook than the 10 mins and i think using 2 eggs made them more cake like. They remained soft, just not nice crunchy choc chip cookie, i wouldnt not make this recipe again.
Best Cookies Ever indeed!
Sorry i had to add more flour, but they still spread, and the kid's said they were to soft.
These cookies taste fantasic, taste great. My kids loved them! They will be eaten very quickly. Quick and easy recipe.
Fantastic cookies - thank you for the recipe
Hmmm. They spread a bit for me, too (ok, they spread a lot). Mind you I'm fairly certain that was my fault - butter was too firm so didn't cream well. They tasted fantastic anyway, just like cookie time. I'm going to try again tonight - the butter is out warming to room temp now ;)
TIP: IF YOUR COOKIES WERE SORT OF FLAT MAYBE YOUR SUGAR AND BUTTER WASN'T FLUFFY ENOUGH AR STILL HAD SUGAR LUMPS NOT WHISKED OUT!
Moist and scrumptious cookie recipes are hard to find because they're usually dark cookies but these are the most PERFECT cookies ever, a lovely white cookie with beautiful melted choc chips inside......oh yummy!
omg. I tried this recipe and it was amazing it was nice and tender iloved it .I think its better than cookie time
So good! Thanks so much!!!!!
This is the best cookie recipe i have ever made. Used white chocolate buttons instead was delicious just like a cookie time. Thanks heaps
Wow! Great recipe, kids are going to love them :-)
These were the best choc chip biscuits I have ever made. Thank you very much.
Great, easy recipe! And i totally agree they taste just like the cookie time cookies!!! Thank you :D The family loves them :)
tastes great, almost exactly like the cookie time ones.
The dough tastes amazing buuut the cookies came out so flat they were practically see thru and tasted mildly like popcorn! Makes a suprisingly good taste tho
oh bloody beautiful, AWESOME! great recipe yum
Thank you so much for sharing this great recipe!! I just made some tonight, they really taste like cookie time, my parnter is very happy with these cookies. I did make some changes though, I added 1teaspoon of baking powder, cut down the sugar to be 3/4 cup only and I used raw sugar, added 2 tablespoon of condense milk and changed the white flour to be wholemeat flour. They turned out great, its the best chocolate chips cookies I have never made so far! Keep the good work!!!
First time a was able to make biscuits, and didnt mess it up!!! GREAT recipe
I made these cookies last weekend for our day at the beach and the guys & gals loved them! Speacially my 6 year old nephew who came along with us. I only took half as I didnt think they would go then realised I should have taken the lot they were gone like that. The mixture grows rapidly in the oven so I ended up with 40+ instead of 2 dozen. The only thing is its too sweet, specially with all the choc and abit too much butter. I made more yesterday and used 125g butter instead of 225g, and 3/4 c sugar instead of 2x 3/4 cups. They came out perfect and tastes even better :)
Absolutely fantastic. Yes could definately eliminate some of the sugar (the white). Only cos I added so many choc chips!!!! Definately like cookie time. I think the secret to that is the amount of salt in the recipe. Am adding to my hardcover handwritten to be handed down recipe book!!!!
In New Zealand it's called vanilla essence but I did a Google search and found the meaning of "vanilla essence versus vanilla extract" can vary depending on what country you are in. "in the uk, vanilla essence is the same as imitation vanilla extract. elsewhere, vanilla essence can mean a highly concentrated form of vanilla extract." -askville.amazon.com
Do I use vanilla essence or extract? Please I need to know for a wedding.
These are just the best choc chip biscuits!! Very yummy. I make them double-size and my son calls them frisbee biscuits
Super easy and super yummy! I wasn't even able to measure out all of the ingredients exactly and they still turned out perfectly! YUM
Just like cookie time yummo! Going to make them again tonight, they lasted only day in our house!
will definitely make these again, they were delicious!
perfection i made these for my grandchildren and they loved them you can make them big or small just takes less time cooking for small. I did not add the white sugar just the brown as there is far to much sugar in all bakeing today.they tasted just as nice with less sugar thank you so much for this recipe.
formed 3 big cookies lol
Very nice, I used baking powder instead of soda (always do if possible because I hate the yucky metallic aftertaste of soda)
Delicious! Just watch the setting you put it on, we burnt our first batch but the second was delicious!
I am living abroad and have really enjoyed having my own 'cookie time' like cookies to share with friends over here. They do make enormous cookies and they are lovely and thick - I have even made large chocolate blocks to break and put in, just like the bought ones. They deserve 10/10!
Emmmmm I luv cookie time biscuits. I am sooooooo making some for my brothers and sister and parents
tamsila ...NO baking soda and baking powder are not the same! Sanusha ...you could try making sure your cookie dough is really firm, so a little less butter (make sure it's butter your using and not margarine).
is baking soda the same as baking powder
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but mine just flops! I take it out of the oven and after a few minutes it sinks and becomes completely flat! It looks so yummy in the picture, i'm desperate to get it to come out right
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lovely treat to have on afternoons.
Go Boris....These cookies tick all the boxes. Thank you for sharing your recipe. Lianne
Absolutely the best recipe ever. I freeze half the recipe in rolls to be made up quickly when we run out. Note the defrosted mix doesn't tend to spread as far and makes a small firm cookie. Davine!
Really fab taste great and easy to do with the kids!!!
Hmm well just looking at all these great reviews i think im gonna have to try this recipe hope its as good as everyone says :)
Everyone I know who's tried these absolutely loves them. They are SO delicious and save alot of money spent on cookie times... :O)
these are the best biscuits i made them for my mum and she loved them!!! =]
made theses at work a few times and everyone loved them, the texture and taste is perfect.will be making theses tonight for sure..
Well, I am one of the flatmates of the below-comment author. I feel obliged to mention that our lovely cook is actually a geologist working in a natural disaster oriented dept at Uni... which explains the semantic field used in his comment. Your subductionnal message about cleaning was really sneaky bru' no? I'll have to bake more of these cookies myself at least as much as the size of the Sphinx ter' make you clean the house then! But I must admit that these are high level cookies! PS my flattie used Whittaker's dark ghana... perfect... (looks like this amazing ad worked on us!) keep on cookying
Yes I concur...these cookies provide a taste and texture comparable to the much loved Cookie Time cookie biscuit. If i didnt have such a busy schedule I would go into full time production of cookies and sell them as 'Cookie O'clock'. I also had a similar experience, when under heat and temperature the mixture metamorphs into a 'molten lava' like state (mate) and if not adequately contained to the baking tray will threaten to inundate your oven with cookie mixture. If you are fortunate enough to prevent this from happening, then all the wee little cute cookies wookies will join forces to form one huge giant cookie which can then cause havoc and destruction within the kitchen unless it is swiftly dealt to with a knife and consumed on site...But that is just the way the cookie crumbles. My flat mates loved this recipe, and it should get me out of cleaning, house hold chores for maybe a couple weeks. Highly recommend recipe!!
Can you please tell what kind of vanilla? Is it vanilla essences?
OMG so GOOD loved them so much haha im baking more right now!!! xx
These are the best choc chip biscuits i have ever had ! And i usually don't like home made biscuits ! thank you so much Boris : )
Absolutely loved them!
wow just read the reviews, I guessed a cup of butter at 500gms, biscuits were divine. I will definitely make these again. thank you.
These are great, Makes around 30 but they do tend to spread. The trick is to beat butter and sugar until JUST fluffy . I might try half shortening and half butter to see if they hold up better next time.
great biscuits! was hard for me to get them from undercooked to just right though and they are very easily burned. 9 minutes was a great time for me.
Here's my tip: use a measuring teaspoon to scoop out the cookie mixture (leveled flat). It makes cute little biscuits and all your cookies will be the same size. This cookie mix tends to spread a little once in the oven, so make sure you leave some space between each one on your baking tray.
If I substitute the chocolate chips with chocolate buttons do I still use 2 cups?
awsme
so quick and easy!!!
1 Cup of butter is approx 225g . Hope this helps :)
They really do taste like Cookie Time biscuits!!! YUM! I used a block of Cadbury Old Gold (Mildly Dark) chopped up for my choc chips, worked really well! Made the biscuits taste more like authentic Cookie Times. I creamed the butter and sugar for about 10min tho so I wouldn't say 10min prep time is correct for the whole recipe!! The biscuits did merge together on the tray though lol but no big deal!! GREAT RECIPE :D
These are the best choco-chip biscuits I have ever made! I used chocolate chunks as well as chocolate chips. So yummy. Highly recommend this reciepe.
These were great, next time i will freeze half of the mixture, so none go to waist.
These are abolutely fab ... even my daughter ate them (yep she's is pretty fussy) ... only one thing to say, could the 1 cup of butter be a weight, otherwise perfect. Well done...
I whipped mix up in food processor - very easy. Too sweet for me though, will reduce sugar next time. Made 25 and they are quite large , could easily make up to 30 decent sized biscuits using this recipe. Thanks Boris.
Marvelous. One try and im sold. Ive tried so many other biscuit recipe but this one is by far the easiest and quickest way. On the plus side....you get more......mmm. Kids love it!
I love them they are so delicious. I've made them about 5 times and now I'm going to make it with Cadbury chocolate. MMMMMMM!!!!
Charlotte you must have made a mistake with the measurements! Maybe you are new to baking? I have made these biscuits over a dozen times now and never had a problem. I would say this is an ultra easy recipe and pretty much fail proof.
Absolute Disaster! the whole mixture seemed to melt in the oven and form one giant cookie that seemed to just keep growing. hilarious episode but disastrous all the same!
just like the ones u buy at the shop, but only better and fresh, nothing is better then home cooked "fresh out of the oven"
I made this up rolled it into a big log wrapped it up in cling wrap and froze it then i take it out when i need it and just slice some off and put in the oven, I make a large batch so i always have a few logs in the freezer
loved it
To answer Charlie - Cookie Time use Cadbury chocolate, just the same as those big purple blocks you buy (the ones made in Dunedin, not Australia) I just did a factory tour a couple of weeks ago, the whole place smelt amazing
whoa yum even better than Mrs. Fiel*s cookies damn, few biscuits and made me full already!!!
227g butter equals 1 cup. I have made this recipe and it is great. I agree with Liv, these cookies taste exactly like the cookies from "Cookie Time" (a New Zealand company)...I wish I could find the chocolate Cookie Time uses for the choc chips. Anyone know?
how much is a cup of butter?
I love this recipe! Its so easy, EVEN THE KIDS AND HUBBY CAN MAKE IT!!! So its gotta be good, lol. A hit with all the family and friends. thank you Boris!!
Love these! And Master 4 helps me make them. I love that it is such a good quantity and do half as per recipe and add a little cocoa to the second lot for something different. Firm favourite when baking with us. Thank you! :-)
wonderful! quick, delicious and great for the whole family. Thank you!
Fantastic recipe, our 3 kids loved them, recipe makes lots of cookies-very economical.
Room temperature butter, so it's soft and will cream up well with the sugar.
Probably a silly question, but what is a cup of butter? - is that a cup of melted butter????
This is the first time, I have baked biscuits at home. The results turn out amazing, my son loves it and can not stop eating it. Thanks for sharing such wonderful recipe.

I thought I better try this recipe since there were so many positive comments, and yes it's a winner! This recipe is very easy, I think the kids would even enjoy making this one. No baking powder required rebecca.
Havent made them yet, was just checking you dont need baking powder as well?
