Submitted by Charlie on 1202594867
1The best way to explore somewhere new is with a local who knows the area, all the best spots that you won't find in a guidebook or on a map. For our Marlborough Sounds expedition, we were lucky enough to be shown around by resident 'Soundies' Rick and Mac.

- The Beautiful Village Of Geraldine
Submitted by Dave on 1247059831
0Geraldine Village, rated as "New Zealand's most beautiful town" and it's not hard to see why! We found this sub-alpine village has more than meets the eye. Highly recommended on our must see list when you visit or stay is the new 1066 Medieval Puzzle World, the Giant Jersey and Allison Art all found on Wilson Street. Kiwi Country complex and the "Four peaks plaza", which includes a boutique cheese factory, an Alpaca shop, Barker’s tasty conserves, sauces & beverages for which the village is well known, and of course the famous Berry Barn Bakery.

- Wharariki Beach Golden Bay
Submitted by chasann on 1262751039
0After repeated comments from many folk that we should go to this beach just down the road from Farewell Spit we finally did it. The wind was strong so we changed our car park thus affording us a little shelter as we exited the car and wondered about the wisdom of our decision before embarking on the 15 minute walk to get to the beach. The car park was almost full and a few vans were in the overflow car park so assumed all must be well and off we went. Once on the other side of the hill the walk was pleasant, no wind at all which lulled us into a false sense of security. On exiting the cover of some trees and the hill, the full force of the wind took us by surprise as did the beauty of the beach below which was a visual feast.

- Queenstown is like a Seductive Magnet
Submitted by wordofmouth on 1331356921
0It’s like a dream come true. My dawn charter flight makes its final approach into Queenstown Airport which has just been voted among the best approaches in the world. This spectacular New Zealand resort is the adventure capital of the world and I am blown away by the summer scenery. It’s no wonder Queenstown with its magnificent scenery and high octane activities is ranked eighth on Lonely Planet's list of top 10 places in the world to visit this year. Queenstown is no longer just a winter skiing destination. It offers fuel-injected fun all summer long.
