A tui is photographed mid song in Nelson. The tui has a wonderful range of noises and songs – they can whistle, click, chuckle, gurgle and trill. The tui was named ‘parson’s bird’ by early European settler’s in New Zealand because the white feathers on the tui’s throat reminded them of the parson’s collar. Tahunanui beach is in the background.
