A female monarch butterfly is busy laying her eggs on the swan plant. There is a tiny monarch caterpillar also visible on a leaf just right of the butterfly. There were already plenty of tiny caterpillars on this plant and every year they eat the entire plant...there is never enough swan plant for the number of hungry caterpillars.
