Maruia Falls is a waterfall which was formed by the Murchison earthquake in 1929. If you are driving on State Highway 65 make sure you stop for a look. This waterfall is extremely popular with kayakers, who go over the waterfall. If you stop there for just a short while on the weekend you're more than likely to see a kayak or two go over. Check out my other photos "Maruia Falls Kayak 1" and "Maruia Falls Kayak 2" which capture two brave kayakers.
