Honeydew reflects the light on a beech tree. This photo was taken on the "bellbird walk" at Lake Rotoiti, Nelson Lakes. Did you know that honeydew is the waste product of the Beech scale insect, whose mouth is buried deep into rough bark of beech trees? The long hair is essentially the bottom of this insect sticking out.
